Got the Mike Satur (full size) spare wheel retainer delivered so good to get that wheel secure now rather than just padded out with rags as it was.

I think the wheel is normally secured from the front rather than the rear, so that the face doesn't get scratched when in or getting it out of the boot. G.

I suspect this to be true, indeed when you think about it why have a nice blingy polished alloy nut hidden inside the dirty rough side of the wheel when is could look it's best on the shiny outside of the wheel.

I thought that too to be fair - but neither of the spindles supplied are long enough to go that way round. I've used the longest one - so unless I'm doing something momumentally stupid - which I'm not ruling out ... ?

As it is - it's secure with a little foam against the face of the alloy so there won't be any scratching.

I can't think of any reason why you should not name them. Eveyone benefits from a genuine and good referral. Please do.

I bought a never used steel spare , a bit of messing about if I get a front flat as I would  have to put it on the rear as It wont fit on the front having AP callipers  but without jinxing it I`m 62 and have never had to change a wheel yet, It would just mean changing two wheels , no big deal
I also got a cover for it, only £5.25 off ebay.

I would get in touch with Mike to find out why it doesn't fit correctly, maybe its only meant for a full size steel wheel not an alloy one. But I can't see the point in anything that shiny being out of sight, nothing wrong with adapting the plastic one with some threaded bar of the same thread. G.

Going from what’s left of my memory, there were two different bolt lengths, which might have been colour coded green or orange, one for the bogo standard steel spare & a larger one to accommodate the 16” wheel; this was yellow.
My spare is in the greenhouse along with the 17” wheels & tyres, which might be available in exchange for an appropriate amount of money.

It came with 2.

I used the longest.

It is what it is. Spare wheel secure. All good.
