Thanks guys, really useful info and I'll be mindful whilst fitting. You must have a rather fastidious MOT station there.. Genuis idea with the luggage scale torque wrench calibration!

Was gonna fit them today and realised that the MG has a stupid fluid reservoir that doesn't fit any of the caps in my pressure bleeder kit, so gonna have to wait for someone to do pedal pumping duties...

In slightly less contentious enhancements, the previous MOT had indicated an advisory for the dulled headlights. A year on they were looking pretty poor indeed, now it's mine I thought I better sort them out. Looking pretty good now, or at least not embarrassing anymore.

Fixed the broken passenger side washer jet, which had cracked it's joining piece. Some quality plastics on these, aren't there :-)

I’ll put a picture of a couple of my stainless banjo bolts. These have been knocking about for ages & been on & off a number of times.
If you were to put one of each next to each other, I would be inclined to identify one as lead!

Maybe you could get another brake fluid reservoir cap and modify it to connect to your pressure bleeder. I assume you pressure bleeder has various cap adapters with couplers and a hose to the pump. is it possible to either get another cap coupler fitting to fit to your "new" cap adapter? or the take the coupler fitting from one of the other coupler adapters in the kit atat you don't use, and fit that coupler fitting to your "new" cap adapter?  Keeep the left over bits in case you ever need to convert it back.

That's the head refitted and the cam carrier removed and resealed. I ran out of time and good weather to get the cambelt back on but hopefully be able to do that one evening in the week.

Interesting to see the difference between the original plastic inlet manifold, the alloy one from a VVC that ive now fitted and the later alloy ones on mpi engines.

Being made in 2 parts, the ex VVC  manifold would be much easier to fit and remove in situ than the plastic one piece type is.  In my case i fitted the bottom part to the head before lowering the head into place and it was then a doddle to bolt the upper part of the manifold onto it once the head was torqued down.

Theres 2 differences I found when connecting everything up:
An unwanted hole for a pressure sensor right at the end (drivers side)  has to be blanked off with a DIY made plate. In the same region there is just a single vacuum spiggot outlet rather than the 2 which the plastic manifold has that end. As there are 2 small vacuum hoses to connect, for now I've used a spare plastic T piece (from a windscreen washer pipe) which fits the small vacuum hoses nicely. It will do for now but I'll look out a slightly stronger purpose made version at some point.
To avoid future owner confusion I filed off the VVC lettering from the top part and then repainted it.

Overall its definitely worth the small effort it's taken to work around for the benefit of a stronger and more convenient allloy 2 part inlet manifold.

Festo make very good metal T and Y pieces in a range of sizes.

You'll find them at any friendly local industrial supply house,  amongst the pneumatic fittings. I've No idea what they cost as these sorts of things have a bad habit of falling into my tool box at work!

I saw your other post about mismatched tyres so I know you will feel much happier with new rubber!
Enjoy your "new" car.

Ive not tried Vredesteins on an MGF but was very happy with the set I put on the 2.8i Capri I used to have. They made that slightly tail happy car feel very sure footed

I ran Vredestein on my Audi (1990 100 Avant with a 2.3 5 cylinder) and they did rather well there, ensuring that 5 metre long beast could always stop on a dime.
