Finally got the brakes sorted on our 96 F and gave the interior a good clean, ready for it's 1st proper outing tomorrow 👌
I have moved R40 into the service bay and given them a wash.

I've finally given in and will be upgrading the brakes on R40 to 4 pots and that means 16 inch wheels, tyres.
Hopefully it should sound a little different too. 🤔

That will be a great moment. You'll enjoy every minute of it

Lovely car, and you'll love the 4-pots. Good decision

Fitted the OEM low coolant sensor and finally put the engine bay cover back on.   Resprayed the rear inlet vents, ready to go back on tomorrow,  replaced the number plate lights and refitted rear bumper

Quick shot of the Alloy inlet manifold in place

Just tidying a few bits up couple tweaks under the bonnet and finally getting around to that annoying rattle. Might even take it for a proper spin if the weather holds!

Not all this week, last 3 weeks but lots of progress to report;

Firstly as you'll see above the car has had some extensive longevity works done, any and all rust has been brushed, treated and then undersealed. Those of you i was talking to before i bought the car will have seen the arches before, none of them were terrible but they were all more than a bit scabby, now they look fresh and i'm so happy with the difference it makes on my overall feeling towards the car. With that and the undersealing work i'm a lot less worried about the cars future.

Next up just a little thing, i designed a custom OEM style splash screen for the head unit, not something anyone will ever really notice but it gives the car a really nice feeling of factory despite the modern upgrade.

I also bought a Jakabi lowline bodykit, painted it Ford Panther black (like the spoiler) and that's now installed too, my favourite part is the rear diffuser. I think the whole kit adds something to the overall stance of the car and makes it just a bit different. Interestingly i was originally planning to add a black stripe down the side of the car just below the air intake sort of level, but now the bodykit is on i don't think it needs it anymore, the kit adds the stripe at the same time, so i'm glad i hadn't already done that.
I also repainted the black area at the front where the fog lights are, as it was tatty with a lot of yellow showing through the many chips in the paint, again i went with panther black to match all the other stuff.

Then in a move which would make a 21 year old me wonder what on earth 38 year old me is doing i've painted the calipers yellow with black accents, i liked the red, i've always been one of those people who loves red calipers but this car needed this, it's amazing how good the wheels look now, especially with the arches having been repainted so everything looks clean, bright and fresh. While i was there i also swapped out the rear discs & pads as there was absolutely no meat at all left.

Last but not least a couple of "finishing" touches, i wasn't happy with the wrap i'd done to delete the chrome on my fuel cap ring and deck finishers so i bought some badly rusted replacements, sanded & painted them (panther black of course) and these look infinitely better than the wrapped ones ever did, the advantage also being that the chrome ring & deck finishers can go in the parts box in case a hypothetical future owner wants to turn the car back to chrome easily.
And then Yellow/Black MG badges, because clearly the colourscheme is getting out of hand now.

So what's next?
Well i still need to decide what i'm doing with my Xpower rollover hoops, i want them black but i don't know if i'm going to paint them or wrap them, paint will likely look better of course but wrap is reversible so it's a tough call (i certainly can't afford another set as a spare and they're rare as it is anyway. The plan is that once the hoops are recoloured i'm going to add a custom windbreak to them because the standard one just looks silly with the hoops on and occasionally rattles against them annoyingly.
I'm toying with the idea of wrapping the windscreen surround (external pillars and upper "lintel") because i saw an AI image of the car with this area being black and it looked really good, not totally sure yet but i do like the idea.
Though after washing it today the central locking started being a bit glitchy so i'll also be keeping an eye on that in case it decides it wants to become the next job, hopefully it settles down though, fingers crossed.

Oh and i've also registered the new more TF specific plate and am hoping to get replica dealer plates made with it

Wow Kid!
I was wondering where you had got to but now I know!
You have done great work on your car and it is looking really good. You are also making it very much your own.
When you first asked about that car we weren't sure what your skill levels were and if it might be too much for you but you are obviously doing a great job.
In another thread I asked about undersealing my car. Underneath is in good condition like yours and I wanted to use clear protection but seeing how neat yours looks I might just go the same route and leave the clear for the inner wings etc.
That car is a credit to you.
Kudos..Brian.

Thanks mate, i've been careful to choose which jobs i can do myself and which ones i need outside help for, so the underbody work was outsourced to a fantastic guy in Doncaster, i'd seen his work on far worse cars and decided to get a quote from him, after that quote came back it just didn't make sense to do it myself and as you can see he did a fantastic job. The car is hopefully taking part in a TF rideout on the 8th of June so i sped up a few jobs, probably won't have anything else done by then but at least she's going to look good with her classmates
