Posted 11 months 1 day ago #218303It's always a source of great delight and eternal joy to discover the wiring mess left behind by previous owners and/or the demented baboons that they had employed as mechanics to work on the car!

Posted 11 months 1 day ago #218304And repaired the small and fragile plastic pieces that affix that ëyebrow¨to the door card. When I dismantled the door I managed to break a couple of them flush with their base. So I cut a toothpick, put it inside the cylinder, and poured Loctite in while holding it straight (the longer toothpick makes for an easier alignment) until the glue hardened enough. Did that several times until the little assy cylinder-toothpick was full to the edge, and cut the tooth pick flush. The result was so good that I treated all the rest of the unbroken cylinders the same way.

Booked car in at garage for an inner drive shaft CV boot as I dropped the spacer for the acctuator under the car and saw the boot was shreaded,
Then went shopping, the MG fits in the parking spaces a lot better than my last car, where I could only park on the edge lol

Posted 10 months 4 weeks ago #218372Previous owner was an older chap and it sat in his garage. It had a lot of non standard badges and stickers which have now been removed. Inside was proper mingin' so really just been getting stuck in with various cleaners to get things tidy. Sadly found when I collected it that the rear corner of the bumper needs a repair as he rattle canned a scratch there - badly - and also fixed an owners club badge to the front by drilling holes for it in the bumper. Bodyshop for a quote this afternoon.
Couple of orders from a well known auction site to replace missing screw covers, replace the awful gear and handbrake gaiters, and mismatched heater control knobs ....
