Nope, on a steep learning curve here now.
Where is the fuel pump relay, and how do I go about testing the electrical connections?

The easiest and quickest to check fuel is pumping is by unclipping the fuel line from the filter (outlet side) put a bottle over the open end of the pipe turn ignition on and see if you get a strong rush of fuel. But im still going for the crank sensor, you should get it either today or tomorrow at the latest.

I can't thank you all enough for your help, I literally couldn't begin to say how blown away with the support you've all given me over this.

OK, spurred on with your encouragement...

I thought the starter was ok as it turns over ok (for now!) but will check connections now the car is back in the garage and access cover can be left off.

So jobs to do - in this order:

1) Plugs out after turning over and check for petrol smell.
2) CAM sensor getting a clean.
3) CRANK sensor getting replaced.
4) Listen for a 2 sec whirring noise on turning ignition on.

Now the scary bit - Thankfully I don't smoke - fuel pipes...which pipe is the outlet side of the fuel pump? Orange / Green - i'm guessing orange?

That would be the ideal solution but money and time also come into the equation though.

Time and Money... I have the same problem. Lack of both due to r-lass / gerts house plans.

Just got a txt to tell me I have a replacement crank sensor at home (Many thanks Russell) so it looks i'll be in the garage tonight.

I did the 8 miles back from work in 24 mins tonight on the push bike ride home - even in the heat - i'm getting fitter!

Removed the cross bars from the inspection hatch to gain a bit more room before doing the gynacologist manouver required to change the crank sensor.

Crank sensor replaced - key turned - still just turning over

Cam sensor cleaned - no difference.

Fuel pump cover removed - a definate 'whirr' when ignition turned on.

Orange 'snap on' line removed from fuel filter - no fuel coming out on turn over.

Orange 'snap on' line removed from fuel pump - no fuel coming out on turn over.

Garage not on fire.

Any idea's folks?

I think the reason i did such a good time on the bike ride home was that i was keen to get the new sensor on!

Unplugged the orange side pipe (presume outlet?) , a little fuel then dry.

Unplugged the green side pipe (presume intake?) fuel running out onto cloth, so quickly pushed it back on!

I'll unplug / clean / replug the fuel pump relay later. (knew fitting those rear lamp guards was a bad idea - lol)

If that doesn't work it looks like i'm taking the fuel pump out then...this leaning curve is getting steeper and now requires a hammer!

Will look into how to remove the T-bar to get the fuel pump out.
