HELP!!! - Car wont start 10 years 10 months ago #122690

I couldn't pinpoint it to one thing, but John Norris phoned me back and said to do what Wkvince did with any plug i could find, including the big black plugs on the ECU. It seems that and a fiddle with the crank sensor might of been the solution, time will tell...

A shot in the dark at a guess something shorting or a fuelpump issue.Check the loom for chaffing around the ecu plug area rear passenger boot hinge where it bolts to shell, not where looms runs up bootlid this just controls the high levelbrake light in boot and interior bootlight.
Seems odd it started when you unplugged and plugged the ECU in.If possible ask somebody local to do a OBD scan you only need the ignition on,the car doesnt have to run and see if there are any codes stored in the module ecu.

Also if it is the tf in picture on your avatar check the relays in boot behind boot carpet inside passenger rear quarter close to the rear panel where light cluster attaches.
Does the fuelpump prime (buzz)when you put the ignition on.

At least you are in the right area. It might be worth changing the crank sensor and see if that solves it. Sensors do break down and give intermittent faults.

After that I would be looking at the ECU connections.

Today 'the car' (as it is now known as - not 'Penelope') started fine, ran ok up to temperature and shows no faults found on the bluetooth Elm327 reader using Torgue lite.

We've not used the car today for a run as we've been gardening at my mums all day, but as 'she' (the car, not my mum) is used as a daily driver for getting Paula to / from work and our lad to / from school this car needs to be reliable.

After Fridays no start and having to use our other car, we still don't trust that 'she' will start every time when needed or have any confidence in 'her'.

With this in mind, no faults showing on the ECU, would anyone else think it could be fuel related rather than electrical?

we need to be able to pinpoint the cause and have confidence in our little 'Penelope' again...Any idea's?
