Sprayed lithium grease in the door lock mechanisms and boot hinges and washed the car and now it wont start.

Turns over - just wont fire up.

15A fuse for horn looks fine.

All electrics work ok, alarm works.

No idea why but need to move the car to be able to get the other car out tomorrow.

Any ideas what could be the cause of this sudden failure?

Its been cursed by the MG demons! I'd call the AA

Three guesses
1. -it's flooded. Try pulling the fuel pump fuse, and try starting again.
2. - there's a blown fuse somewhere.
3. -The battery is a little flat from you working in the car.

Breakdown just arrived

My guess is that a rodent creature has chewed some of your wiring

Fuel pump reset switch pressed and still no joy.

Breakdown bloke was no use - had to show him where the engine was!
He checked the fuses, plugged in his reader and found no faults, then said "thats all i can do, call green flag and ask to be towed to a garage".

What a TOOL he was! Hope you get sorted. I hate those bloody job worths who can't be arsed.

Maybe something to do with the grease in the door? Not shorting out any alarm connection thereby engaging the imobiliasor?

Are the connections tight on the ecu?

Doors lock, lights flash, alarm works fine, tried to lock with door open and the horn sounds.

Just got in from trying it again. still no joy.
time to leave it now - it's too late to do any use.
Car pushed round around the corner and abandoned on the street. Paula walking to work & lad to school tomorrow.

Mine was a faulty crank position sensor, then i set fire to the cat by pumping unburnt fuel into it by trying to start.

Was the crank sensor a big job?

Tried it again this morning in case it had chance to 'dry out' - no joy.

Update:
Got a recommended local mobile mechanic coming to have a look on Saturday afternoon.
Will miss the GP qualifiers but hopefully get the car sorted!

Must be the cleanest broken down car around - lol
