The rim is actually slightly better than my own rims!
Would have been great if it held pressure as it would save me ยฃ20 getting my new tyre fitted.

Your tyre problem wonโ€™t be anything dreadful. Alloys as standard were quite something when these were built & they werenโ€™t of the highest quality. Salt & road crap would lodge between tyre & rim, corroding whilst on its merry way. The paint lifted & air started to pass, hence slow punctures, with no obvious problem. Take it to your local independent tyre man & heโ€™ll remove the cover, clean the rim, scrub up the tire, they use a special goo to create a new seal & youโ€™re away.
Iโ€™ve had three go like this, the last about six month ago.

Thanks AP.
I found a small tear in the sidewall that I thought was the source. I soapied it but it is sound.
I might just do as you say and ask my local guy to refit it if I can get the tear past him.
Then I have two new tyres left for the rears should I need them.

Forgive me....I forgot myself.
Given that you Pomgolians treat visits to the bath as an annual event............ weather you need it or not...............It may be some considerable time before the bath is scheduled for use.

Fit the good new tyre. When you puncture you will need it anyway.

Mix a solution of washing up liquid and water get it quite bubbly put it around the rim with the wheel laid down flat and it should show more bubbling if the air is coming from the rim and/or valve. I'm sure you know this already so I feel like I'm teaching Granny how to suck eggs. (By the way your wife will show you what washing up liquid is)
