Well I am sure some must find the skin tight lycra showing my rippling muscles very attractive.
My wife thinks I look like a prick.

This reminds me of the piss taking ding dong that Cobber & I had in my early days on here.
Our dear friend was usually the victor, having the final words with a killer post.
You might have been a less frequent visitor due to your illness, however you have spent that time keeping your knives edge keen.

Oh he is definitely winning the sarcasm game..he's a furlong in front but his place of residence makes me tolerant of him..and nothing we say will change him!

I should probably explain...........Way back when I was a young fella, I lived in a fishing village on an extensive estuarine lake system, it had an unusual gender demographic, all the young bucks stayed home as there was plenty of work and apprenticeship opportunities, at the small shipyard such as shipwrights, mechanics, sparkies etc. as well as the usual work in forestry, timber mills, the fishing industry agriculture and construction etc.
So the young bucks didn't have to move away for work, there wasn't much for the girls though as the training for their typical vocational roles such as teaching, office roles and nursing, required them to move to the big smoke. You must remember it was a different time and gender tended to dictate your path more then these more enlightened times.

So as a result we had plenty of cashed up young bucks sitting in the pub every night and bugger all girls to divert their attention.
When ever any girls would venture in to the town and especially the pub the girls were sure to get plenty of attention and they would could have their pick.
This would cause plenty of competition between the young bucks and although we were mostly all good mates, we would put one anothers weights up (verbally handicap one another) All good natured banter of course. And the older blokes would pull any of the wayward young fellers into line if they got too big for their boots, remember the young fellas would pay for their indiscretions the next day a work, such was the lot of an apprentice in a small one pub town where every bastard knew each other.
You had to have a hide like a rhino, a sense of humour, an acid tongue, a razor sharp wit and the ability to take it all on the chin to survive.
It was a classic case of being either the quick or the dead!
A life skill that I've carried with me all though the years!

Thank you and a great story.
You knew how to fit in to life back then. You did your thing but you knew when you were out of line and when it was time to reel it in.
There was a pecking order determined on merit and not on what you owned.
Nowadays there is no respect left..the elderly stand on a Bus whilst the teenager sits unaware because of the music blasting from their earbuds.
There is a lot to be said for bygone days.

I am starting to form a love/hate relationship with this car. Once it was only love.
The thermostat is out. I had to remove the inlet manifold after all. The pipe pulled off the thermostat but butted up against it and no amount of wiggling or pulling would move it out of the way.
The stat hasn't arrived yet so I have time to clean up the block and cambelt cover.
I found the small hose from the expansion tank to the inlet manifold blocked at the fitting so that was not allowing it to breathe at all.
Lucas coil packs and the radiator airing plug arrived and the spare rim arrives Friday. Having a spare will be a big relief.
It's going to have to sit for a few days as I have to spend time away.
At least I now know what the pipework looks like and how to get to it!
Thanks for the help guys.

You should have twinned yourselves with Liverpool.  Much the same qualities required!

The rest should be easy, when I changed the stat on my F years ago I just replaced the stat not the complete housing. The stat I used had a small jiggle ball in it. I couldn't offer any advice on the removal of it when you were asking for it as I'd forgotten how I done it, I think it was done as a matter of course when I did the HG in 2012. G.
