Yeah, it's a full 4-2-1 stainless system (manifold, downpipe and back box) I think probably all Toyosports, that was sold to me as fitting MG TF and it wasn't until I got under the car I realised it was for an F! I also realised on closer inspection it had clearly been crashed and the exhaust pipes were pointing in different directions
Seller was kind enough to refund me a chunk so I got the system for £125 overall which seems fair enough. Applying heat, a farm jack and some scaffolding pole to try and get it somewhere square again...
Current OE system is well past it's best at 23 years, about to rust out on the box and the backbox to cat flange fell apart when I looked at it sternly so I'm sort of committed to fitting this one now anyway and it's a cheap do if I can get it working and fitting right.
I assume the 4 bolt fitment worked well enough on the F, so willing to have a go with that and call it weight reduction
Had a scare when I noticed the downpipe didn't have a pre cat lambda port like the original, was almost ready to chop up an old VW exhaust to "retrofit" one, and even had the arbor drill out when I checked the manifold more closely and found the lambda port on the underside, rather than on the downpipe OE location. Would have felt a bit stupid if I'd spent 2 hours chopping up and welding perfectly good exhausts only to have to then find a bung for the new port I'd made...
Literally all the bolts on the backbox heatshield had lost their heads to tin worm so it took hours to get those out, grinder and Knipex water pump pliers. Found a bit more rust I need to treat as well
Going back to it tomorrow AM, just manifiold to remove now and cat to modify then onto refitting. Quite keen to get it finished this weekend as it's going to be warm this week
I've read that the oil filter has to come off to get the manifold out, and I need to do the dipstick gasket while I'm under there too so I'll be dropping the oil... picked up filter and some 10w40 Shell Helix HX7 semi synth and it'll get a very early service
It had an HG fitted by an acquaintance of Rough Luck racing about 1000 miles since, I think so hopefully all the manifold nuts / studs will be co-operative...
I've owned this car about a month now and I've worked on it more days than I've driven it!

Yesterday I tackled the dreaded heater resistor job on my F with air con.
I didn’t take any pictures but I will say that having a new snorkel type intake ready to replace the original did make it easier as I was able to cut a section out of the old one and then manage to undo the two screws holding the internal duct by feel and a stubby screwdriver! It’s one of those catch 22 situations, really hard to access the two internal housing bolts with the duct in place, and impossible to remove the duct screws without hacking the ‘old’ intake box too.
The last part of the challenge was the external right hand front bolt on the old air intake, I found the best way to do this one was by raising the car, removing the near side front wheel and then with a very long combination of socket extensions I was able to get the last of the 4 bolts off and wrestle the old intake out.
Once that was all out of the way, access to the heater resistor was really easy from the top.
I found that putting the internal duct back in place was a real pain as it kept catching on the lip of the intake hole in the body. Eventually though I got it back in place and I now have all 4 fan speeds and a much easier to remove intake housing if I need to replace it again.
A few choice words were released during the entire process. 🙂

Thanks to Bruce and his idiot proof instructions i have now fitted the coolant alarm, definitely impressed with the simplicity of fitting and the Good price giving extra peace of mind, just under an hour start to finish including stripping out and refitting everything, i like the little warning Bleep to tell you its working when you turn the ignition on
