Hey Guys
The central locking works perfectly but makes an awful noise when unlocking!
More annoying than anything.
I would be delighted if there was some kind of fix for this.

This noise is it sorta like a machine gun rattling?

My passenger door did this for a while after a winter lay up but eventually sorted itself out. Otherwise it's a sign of wear and some or all of the mechanism may need replacing.

When you can get time to take the door card off its worth checking the linkages are free to move and giving the lock mechanism a clean.
2nd hand drivers side door mechanisms are only about £ 25 so it might be worth replacing for peace of mind.

Ah, the machine gun of death!
A certain sign that the lock will fail, and be sure that it will fail in the locked position, so you can't open the door to replace the lock mechanism. Catch 22...

Take it out asap and replace with a good one. Check the wiring on the old lock, there are two variants. At the very least take off the door card now so you can get to the lock if(when) it fails.

The usual failure is plastic post that one cog rotates around...

Totally agree with David, it’s not even worth looking at what goes on inside with a view to repairing. Dozens of us have done that on your behalf & all have ended up by adding to our store of knowledge; “it’s a broken bit of plastic holding a cog”, then getting a fresh one & fitting that.

Hi there,
there is one other area that can cause this effect ,PeKtron SCU relays beginning to fail
there are 2 --Central Locking and Superlocking
Central Locking mainly affects the driverside as it has an extra microswitch inside the lock
Superlockling is the deadliest as it can deadlock any side , the worst being the passenger side as there is no keylock access and you cant get the door pin up by hand. I got around this once by removing the seats to get to the passenger door card which then has to be removed whilst the door is closed , it is achievable without damage then the doorlock can be dissembled , but the problem was with the superlock SCU relay not the doorlock.
