It is most certainly a WA engine
Pic doesn't show it that well, but the whole thing is covered in MG octagones - cast in to the exhaust manifolds, oil filler cap, rocker cover bolts etc etc... Dad has one (and the rest of the car, in bits), used to walk past it all the time in the basement
First MG engine to have a fully counterbalanced crank.
However, QPHW is not the engine code as used in the WA. MG spec was a bit higher than Wolseley.
