Clue, You don't have to go trawling Google or endless MG sites to find the answer to this one.

The answer is within.....

Thanks Paul & Gary - I only checked in whilst I try to arrange a visit to Tasmania in January - not to see Craig (Bacchus) but to pass a week waiting for my sister's wedding. I can hardly just go for a weekend (although that would be the preference!!) all the way to Melbourne?

Mind you as we are under water here, it might be a good idea to repeat my April visit - constant blue skies!!

Anyway - simples and has been touched on in a past version of this Quiz (sorry Paul - I also run out of ideas)

This photograph purports to be a 1952 MGTD. IF correct, what is the glaring error in restoration?

Can't see enough detail but I am guessing the wrong front suspension which changed on the TD and TF from the TC.

Martin it is not hidden at all. If you enlarged the picture it would make no difference - according to my research, the error is in plain view. :broon:

Didn't think it was that difficult. The front wings also look wrong from this angle.

Doh, :slapme: just remembered, should be steel wheels on a TD!

Too slow I know, but it's quite clearly not a TD (or if it is, it's been restored interestingly), no bumper, wings are wrong, aforementioned wires instead of steels (also much bigger wheels, 17" in place of 15", I think?).

Martin - correct, the steel wheels are standard on the TD wire wheels were never standard fitting. As I said IT PURPORTS to be a 1952 TD and IF IT IS CORRECT then wheels it is. Trouble is, you pick a picture to enable you to do a question, check amd double check as muich as you can to make sure the picture is what it says it is, but with the TC TD TF it is not always possible to be 100% certain.
MG Mad - as you say but see my above comments. It is almost impossible to be sure what it is and that is the only picture i could easily find for the purpose of the question.

Over to Martin :broon:

Yes and no, TD and TF are the most distinctive of the T series, TA, TB and TC all look very similar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MG_T-type). TD was a much more "modernised" design, and the TF easily distinguishable by the faired-in headlights. A number of TDs have ended up with wires fitted, after market but they don't look quite right for some reason. I'd be pretty confident saying that is not a TD body in that picture.

Sorry, been enjoying a bbq with Mr & Mrs Redbeard and catching up on MG gossip.

On the basis that it is a standard model and not modified or upgraded, how would you tell a TF115 from a TF135 just by looking at the door?
