a) Douglas Bader. MG TA
He failed to turn up for court because of he was fighting in the skies over Dunkirk and so was fined in his absence.
b) Amy Johnson MG 18/80
She gave a model of her Gipsy Moth "Jason" to William Morris (Not sure if this was in return for the car)
Her car was unusual in that she had a similar model of Jason as her radiator mascot. Also her car was the first to have what would become the MG Grille.

Very well done Chris
Yes Douglas had a TA
Very good answers, just that after William Morris presented Amy with the MG with Jason (her bi-plane) on the radiator, in recognition of her achievements, she was expected to and did some PR for Morris like opening new garages. Still sounds like a good deal.

Staying with the S Series Engine (That's the MG Link)... As I previously mentioned, the S series engine was developed from the R Series engine. But this itself was a development of another engine... What engine was it? and What car was it first fitted to?

The R-Series was essentially a lightly modified version of the E-series
The first use of the E-series was the front-wheel drive Austin Maxi five-door hatchback of 1969.
As far as I am aware the E-Series never powered a MG

You're quite right, the E series engine didn't power an MG but the engines developed from it did..
Anyway your turn to set a question

On the day of its public début, can you name;
1) The UK No. 1 single song?
2) TV show “This is your life” featured who?
3) The Prime Minister at the time?

Paul, I'll commit the cardinal sin of having a bash and kind of hoping I don't get it right as I don't have a question (which is why I have not partaken in the quiz for months)
Is the Car under wraps the MG RV8,
Is the event the Birmingham Motor show 14th October 1992?
www.mgrv8.be/EN/history.html
If not ignore me,
But If it is;
1) Tasmin Archer, "Sleeping Satellite" was No 1, Prince and the New Power Generation had the No.1 Album with "Symbol"
2) This is Your Life "Guest" was Frazer Hines, of Emmerdale Fame and probably loads of other stuff but I remember him in Emmerdale Farm (back when it was a farm rather than just "Emmerdale")
3) John Major was PM

Interesting information Gary, unfortunately there's been a case of mistaken identity. Wrong car, venue,....
Come on Gary it's not that hard to come up with a question. I've managed over 100 now and there are still plenty out there.
Don't worry too much if you feel you can't set a question, I can always come up with one more :slapme:
So back to the question ....which car made its public début from under the gold sheet?

Coming back to the E Series engines, the ADO16 variants (inc. MG 1100 and 1300) were never updated beyond small design tweaks and engineering changes and were eventually replaced by the Allegro. However, in Australia the ADO16 was taken a step further and used the E Series engine.
1) Name the Australian variant of the ADO16 that used the E Series engine.
2 ) What was the capacity of the engine used in this variant
3) Name a unique feature of this Australian ADO16 that was never seen on ADO16 models anywhere else because of the use of this engine.
4) What other feature of this unique model set it apart from the ADO16 range in general that would have improved its sales success in the UK in terms of practicality.
