1) Morris 1500 and Nomad (wagon)
2) 1500
3) front end styling was a little different and incorporated a slight bulge in the bonnet. It also got a 5 speed box in 1970.
4) The availability of the Nomad 5-door wagon.

Perfect answers and yes, more of a hatch as a 5-door than a station wagon/estate with two doors like the UK Countryman/Traveller.

I have an idea or two for a question but will have to wait a bit - about to go and find out how badly it is possible to do in a German test whilst severely jetlagged and having missed half the course...

just out of interest, whilst we wait for MG mad to get back and set a question, here is a photo of the aftermath of Cecil Kimber's motorbike accident which almost cost him his right leg.

The rex motorcycle should have looked a lot more like this one

Just out of interest can you find;

1) where the Rex ridden by kimber would have been produced?
2) the make of bike Kimber is said to have raced in a dawn duel?

I believe Cecil Kimber owned 2 Rexs. The first was a 1906, the second a 1907. Rex moved from Birmingham to Coventry in 1900. Their factory address was Osborne Road, Earlsdon, Coventry..

From here I learn that he was racing against a 1910 Triumph and won!

EDIT: good bonus question ;)

Well done Chris, very good answer and another slice of pie for you.

As MG mad has disappeared for the evening I thought I would use the photo of Cecil Kimber's crashed Rex as I had been looking for a photo of it for a long time. We have asked about the crash before so I had to come up with some other Rex related question

Would you like to set a quick question while we wait for Andrew's?

The number 1889 has a sad connection with Cecil Kimber...

What was it?

Chris, I'm getting nowhere with this one. As he was born in 1888 and as I can find no significant event relating to him when he was one I am assuming this 1889 is not the year.

Have tried a few ideas but I am obviously missing something as I have drawn a complete blank. :slapme:

Off to do it a bit of work will have another try later if no one gets it.

OK here is my question, sorry for the delay, but actually doing some work for a change.

What is the MG link:

Off the top of my head, and assuming the picture is mainly the Peugeots (both the 403 and cabriolets) , I'd say Pininfarina, the Italian styling house responsible for a number of Peugeot and BMC cars, and notably the MG Magnette MkIII/IV, MG 1100 and most famously the MGB GT. However, I think the specific link reflates to the cabriolets and Pininfarina have worked on a number of cabriolets for various manufacturers, but in regard to MG, they were responsible for the MGF roof structure.

I reckon the venue could well be the MG link.

That is a photo taken at the L’autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry race track in France.

The MG C-type was produced by the MG Car company from 1931 to 1932. It was designed for competition use and based on the M-Type Midget. A special car, EX120 had been developed from the M-Type for George Eyston to make an attempt on the 750 cc class 24 hour record at Autodrome de Montlhéry in France. The attempt was successful and a series of replica cars were made which became the C-Type.

The link, the MG Montlhéry C-type Midget.
