The first five clues were; two names, a drive and a title.....
1) Listen to this..
The Wanderer (name of the car)
2)
Michael Palin famous for amongst other things, his journeys, the one of interest to us, Pole to Pole (the drive)
3)
Derek Batey, as the host of Mr & Mrs (the title)
4)
The Douglas town sign in Arizona, USA. (2nd name)
5)
26,000 miles[/quote] (the drive)
Next clue was the year from the MG TF registration plate 08, 2008
Finally was a photo of the actual car, made to look old, a MG TC.
Hence you have the 2008, 26,000 mile Pole to Pole journey made by Mr & Mrs Douglas in their MG TC 'The Wanderer'

I like the twin exhaust pipes on the Metro Van F Mule
MG Rover were sneaky, ...
.... they did the opposite to something people have later thought of doing.
I have seen people ask on forums if a Toyota MR2 engine could be fitted in a F / TF
MG Rover when testing the K-Series mid engine layout used MR2's
Thank you for a very interesting first question RB, look forward to your input in the MG T-Bar Quiz.
The Metro Mule question also featured in the original MG Quiz, click here to view .

The second photograph is of Princes Street and the New Town from the Ramparts of Edinburgh Castle.
Scottish MG Distributors, based in Edinburgh, John Gibson & Sons Ltd. produced an occasional four-seater conversion, known as a 'Dickie Seat' that was introduced in 1957; a nice addition to avoid an over-crowded MGA! They made it for an local farmer and the car's registration number was RSF 456.
RSF 456 now:

A spot of googling then turned up the original photo here at:
http://alexcenla.wordpress.com/2012/03/29/1953-mg-td-revisited-confessions-of-an-old-car-nut/
That was from March 2012 so not sure if the story goes beyond the fact it is now up for sale?I went out to Woodworth and looked at the car. It was in piles in several buildings….But..It had never been wrecked and All parts were original.
The owner had purchased it from the man who bought it brand new off the showroom floor in California in 1953. I bought it and brought it to my home..Sold a 1947 Chevy 2 door sedan to make room for it. I took the MG to a friends shop and started a two-year restoration on the car. Still have most of the parts receipts..Started with a bare frame and totally rebuilt the car, inside and out. A labor of love. Today a similar car is worth 17 to 25 thousand dollars, running.
