Noisy wiper motor!

If you don’t have an interference fit or at least a “snug” fit, the rotor will dance. Loctite do something called bearing fit, I have misgivings with a heavy duty, high service application but as it’s made by Loctite, so fair do’s, besides I have a somewhat old fashioned outlook on what is in effect glue, I will avert my gaze.
A friend who is a far more skilled engineer than I, had built a model steam locomotive boiler & with the help & advice from Loctite technical services, glued it together. It passed its boiler certification but as it was a technical exercise it is considered a display piece.

Thanks for that advice AP.
I am not happy with the fit as I know it should be tight in the inner bearing. I can see this is very likely to dance.
If it does it will be easy to remove the circlip and pull the shaft back out and "glue" it in.
I am no engineer but I do know what I am seeing is not good.
It has become a "see it through to the end" project now!

Do you happen to know the diameter of the shaft on which the new bearing fits?
If so with the reference to the bearing you obtained we might get an exact sized bearing or a better one.

Thank you.. will go measure the shaft just now.
I have been looking at the Loctite stuff that AP mentioned and it would do the trick.

The shaft is 8.02mm diameter.

The 608 2RS bearing is advertised as 22mm x 7mm depth with internal hole for the shaft as 8mm.
The diameter and depth are correct with the bearing I have but I can't measure the hole with my cheapish calipers.
I reckon a better quality bearing..say a SKF would be ok.
I've gone this far so one way or another I will see it through just for personal satisfaction and hopefully a spare motor!

Great, the bearing should fit (but obviously doesn’t). I’m sure bearing fit or even probably a threadlock will do the job.

Thanks!
I think I am going to go for the Loctite bearing fit. It's a slack fit but it's not ridiculous. I was just surprised that's all after having to drift the other one off.

I was forced to use Bearing Fit in the bearing of the rear struts of an Elan caused by the previous bearing spinning in the strut.  Worked fine and never save any problems.

The Loctite bearing glue finally arrived and I put it all back together.
I now have a spare wiper motor should I need it.
It's not whisper quiet out in the open but under the bonnet and sat in the car it is fine.
If I had to do one again I wouldn't flinch as I did make extra work for myself as I did things that are unneccessary. I would also spend £2 extra to get a SKF bearing.
Don't be put off having to drill the rivets to get the gearbox cap off. Nuts and bolts hold it all back together with a little silicone underneath to keep it water tight.
The noise will almost certainly be the bearing so no need to remove the oilite bushes for the driveshaft.
Be careful with the bakelite plate holding the brushes and the wiring. It sits on two stantions that are rounded over to hold it in place. The third stansion is just a locating peg and has no hold on the plate. I used a very pointed modelling knife blade to prick around the stantion to free it then used a dab of Araldite to secure it when it was put back.
Fiddly jobs like this are not my forte but I wanted to have a go rather than throw it away and I'm glad I did.
