Yes, I have airbag drivers side only (assume badly fitting panel with nothing written on it passenger side is not an airbag).
Whilst I have experience with classics without PS most of what I drive these days either does or is my Sprite which has a large wheel and skinny tyres so I think my steering technique has been got a bit lazy. I've been concentrating the last week on steering actively with both hands, pushing not pulling and using my elbows and shoulders rather than my wrists. As a result I'm currently thinking that I don't need to upgrade.
The brakes have improved considerably with use and feel much better, they are nicely progressive (as opposed to our 2010 Zafira which is shockingly off/on). I have a secondhand servo on the shelf but feel no need to fit it. I suspect a combination of corroded discs and possibly even a seized piston or calliper.
Typically I'm not a heavy braker but I've tried some brisk stops in both dry and wet and the car stops well and nice and straight with no pulling.
It's very satisfying getting a car that was loved but little used back in to daily useable condition.
My '96 car doesn't have power steering. I've driven plenty of classics without PS but none of them had 185s on the front and I feel the F would be much nicer with it. There seem to be a few posts on various forums to suggest it is simply a matter of swapping steering columns but is there anyone here who has done this or can at least confirm what is possible.
I'm currently running with a hard top (bah, why didn't they fit gutters, even my Sprite hardtop has gutters and that's 50+ years old) but will need a new / better soft top come the Spring. I'm aware the hood was modified at some point (two seam / one seam) and my car is a very early one and presumably has the two seam.
Is the one seam hood significantly better. I understand to fit it I'd need to source a later hood frame but I suspect that won't be hard.
