With a full 80 litre steel tank in the boot, that statement above does seem to make sense. But for some reason, and I probably speak too soon here, I can throw my car around quite defiantly without issue.

I'll try it in the wet and get back to you if I survive. :)

You have your roof down a lot then as well Ozzy. Fair play to you. I'm 9300 miles down for 440 up right now. But who's counting. ;)

lol, i recon about 80% of my driving is roof off, with hat, gloves and scarf :)

try not to hit anything when throwing car about in the wet :P

have just booked my car in with Back on Track in guildford, for investigative work into oil/coolant loss and pre-mot checks...
this is going to hurt my wallet isnt it?

at this rate i am never going to get my supercharged V8 Excel project finished...

well had a bit of a bonus today, as well as confirmation of HGF :(

all 4 tyres a dead... (but they guys at back on track had some spare front Advans in 195/50/15 that would fit and they gave me, which is awesome) and i have another set of Toyo R1Rs in 205/50/15 for the rears already, so will get them fitted tomorrow...

they seem to think the oil is coming from the head gasket behind the drivers seat...
i have an oil leak on the auto gearbox near a sensor directly behind passengers seat, and im pee-ing coolant out at the rear of the head gasket (back of the car)...

photos:

the only good news is that the oil and water are leaking in different places, and they are not mixing...
also oil seems to be coming from one of the cam oil seals...

phone call to Russel i think...

fix list:
HGF
Cam shaft oil seal
gearbox sensor/oil leak
dip stick oil leak / preasurising (is this common?)
&
4 new tyres (sorting this tomorrow hopefully)

yesterday had to put on new wiper blades and 2 new headlights, that came to £60 from halfrauds as i needed it asap... :(
Just very please Stef and Jez at Back on Track (guildford) felt sorry for me and did the check, and gave me the front tyres for just the cost of ridiculing me about it :) Love those guys...

this is going to be expensive no doubt... why is it they always break when you have no money at all... :(

Is that an oil leak at the union of the dipstick tube and the sump? I was losing a little oil and I found these two bolts had worked loose. Tightened up and oil loss gone. :broon:

So was that £60 for 4 tyre swops :-?

If so that does sound about right £15 a corner..

Madam has her MOT next Wednesday so I will be crossing everything

technically it was a 6 tyre swap...

tyre off lotus wheels on to MGF rears, Advans on to MGF fronts, used R1-Rs off MGF rear onto Lotus Fronts... (so i can still push the chassis about whilst im working on it)...

my MOT is due in July... just trying to spread the cost of the HGF fix, the new cat, possibly new exhaust if it's deamed too loud, and any other issues that are then found :(
