New windscreen fitted and looks very smart .. :broon:

The old windscreens had a metal fixing which is now replaced by rubber, and does look a lot smarter and neater, however as Leigh said not for the purists, also the MG is not in the rh corner, it now has Pilkington glass ...

However due to this much glue being used to install the original

This happened :(

So they have ordered me a new one :yesnod:

Thanks x

The insurance company are arguing it out with Autoglass !!

Autoglass could not find a new one, so I did, but as they do not have an account there so they are playing up  ..
Insurance company have said that they broke it, so they will replace it !!!

I do not care either way as long as it is fixed for Bletchly :yesnod:

looking at the yop of the wind screen it looks like the rubber is not touching the frame so a gap is there it will fill with crud ect

so as there is a gap the screen has been installed to low
there are adjusters atthe bottom of the screen to set to correct height

i know this as i had 2 fitted in 6 months om my blue F
mad about cars and bikes :)
if it aint broke dont fix it :)

I was looking on the detailing threads as I was trying to see how long I should wait before Claying Madam after her recent touch ups, however I ended up reading other member cleaning process/products, and thought oooooooooh that looks nice and shiny, so today it arrived and I will give it a go before Bletchley on Sunday ..

I have always used Autoglym so it will be interesting comparing them ..

I swapped to Maguiars from Autoglym and personally think it gives a better finish (or maybe I'm convincing myself that to justify the extra cost) .
The polish in particular doesn't seem to leave that nasty white residue in the crevices that other polishes do.

Thanks Rog, yes a bit more expensive than Autoglym, but seems to be a few members choice, I had never heard of it before reading the How too's :broon:

i have used Meguiar's stuff for years with good results. I particularly like their clay bar kit. I do use Autoglym car wash soap though.

Update on my broken plynth thing ..

Autoglass phoned me back on the day to say they could not locate the part it was obselete, however if I got them a second hand one they would fit it ..

I made one phone call to Brown and Gammon, Dean in parts located a brand new one for me ..

Phoned Autoglass back, and got told the job had now been closed, they did not have an account with B & G so could not order the part, so that was the end of it ..

Really ..

Phoned up my insurance, who put pressure on, but got told as I had agreed to take liability for replacement, after pointing out that was not possible as why would I have been phoned to say they could not get the part if I was taking liability and to sort it out ..

Phoned Insurance again Monday and was told to give them 5 days ..

Yesterday I had a follow up email about the performance of Autoglass and was asked to rate them ...

Straight Zero's across the board, along with a statement that I was now taking them to the small claims court for the part, repair, compensation and costs ..

Phone call today, part has been ordered and will be fitted Friday morning, along with profuse apologies from the General Manager and a lot of grovelling ..

Result ..

The moral of this post is never ever mess with the owner of an MGF, we go 0 to b1tch in 2 seconds flat ...

Unfortunate thing in today's world - you have to 'create' just to get what you are entitled too :nonod:

Good job Jan ;)
