  • Yep fortunately for me I pointed out this and other issues found on the car during my inspection and managed to secure a decent discount off the price. Discount paid for majority of the remedial works that were needed.

  • Been a bit of an up and down week for me

Spent the week on and off removing what was an abortion of wiring used for the front spots (previous owner used house flex, and separate non standard switch under the dash) when turned on the rear spot warning light on dash would illuminate?

Removed all the wiring and put in bin, purchased loom with relay and switch included from Ebay and ran wiring as per their instructions, couldn't get the lights to work, checked out everything with meter which seemed fine? Finally ran fused feed direct from battery to relay and proved live side of wiring was OK did same with earth and they finally worked (turned out I had a poor earth behind the dash to the new relay :-?

All working now  but manage to kill the battery draining it with lights on etc. (it was 7 Years old) fortunately new Bosch battery was given to me by the previous owner which is now fitted and holds charge.

As a final kick in the groin the engine management light decided to illuminate :omg: so off I went to buy a cheap code reader. Cleared the code (flat battery was culprit)

Taking a rest from working on her and taking her out this weekend :drive:

Thanks everyone for the input decided to look at linkages etc yesterday.
Gearbox end seems fine but the shift end seemed to have some loose bolts tightened these and the shift seems great no more clonking against body when selecting 1st or reverse

Don’t ya just love that moment when you discover that a either a previous owner and/or their mechanic was a total dipshit!,

There are way too many clowns about these days and nowhere near enough circuses to keep them busy and out of harms way!

Certainly is true not the only thing discovered so far but I got it for a good price with these faults in mind.

I'm confused and still not 100% sure if the plastic should be there as other pictures show it as mine and those found on fleabay show it?

This is what I have seen on line that differs to mine shown above?

Well decided to look into the issue over the weekend and methinks that something appears to be missing after looking online at pictures of the mechanism in the cab.

I'm sure there should be a plastic top to the mechanism which clearly on mine is missing!   previous owners must have decided not to replace it when I assume it broke.

    Online shopping here I come
