Very well done, I think you have played a blinder.
And I suspect this illustrates the comments I made with regards to what I shall call “Second Tear” suppliers.
The oily rag that’s wiped over the item to make it look pretty might not have as much oil on it, nor have had as many wipes but the money saved is worth the extra you will have to do.

Snorkel and servo brace. You can see more than usual here as the wide plastic cowling is off.

The metal strip at the back of the snorkel is just to keep it flat between the bolts. The eagle eyed may recognise that is just a bit of carpet threshold strip.  The other half of it is doing the same job on my TF but cant be seen as the plastic cowling cover it all up.

Very clear to me now! I can now see what you meant about the plate keeping it flat.
Is that from Bitz? It looks neat and easy to fit.

As I’m buggering about replacing my servo etc, I’ve taken out the brace for a paint. I’ll put this picture up, it might help although it’s far from my normal standard. Which just illustrates how poor my photography is.

It's useful to see it out. That's the type I fitted to both cars. It can be a fight to bolt on if the brakes have been really hammered hard by the previous owner distorting the bulkhead. The rule of thumb there is that the harder work it is to fit then the more essential the brace is to prevent the bulkhead stretching even more. When you next hit the brakes you will know all the pressure from your foot is going into the braking system rather than half of it wasted in flexing the bulkhead.

I have been persuaded to fit one of these servo brackets and obtained one from “blitz”.
Everything lines up perfectly (or at least as good as one can expect). However the bots that came out were shouldered so that when tightening them the shoulder protected the plastic aspect of the snorkel.
The bolts supplied with the bracket are not shouldered and did not come with spacers.
Clearly fitting spacers would be best. Has anyone come across a suitable source for these spacers?
At present if the bolts are tightened down as much as I feel they should be the snorkel is being compressed which for long term service is not a good idea.

For better or worse, on both cars I just bolted the brace down on to the snorkel with the fixings that were provided. No problems so far.

The drawing shows the bolt holes should be 8.5mm.  The brace are 10 mm which would allow the bolts to "shuffle".
I fitted small 10 X 8 tube in all holes to make it tight.  Shouldered bolts to further reduce slop.
For the missing spacers I used 2 or 3 small washers and cut the new gasket to fit them. (Plus end of bolt "shoulder")
Piece of light angle at the back to keep that flat.

P.S.  As my car had no flex to begin with, this was possibly a bit of an own goal as I had to extend the holes at the servo end to actually fit!

I’m fortunate, I can rattle off this type of item, however I have also made two steel strips (“top & bottom”)to spread the load across the snorkel fixings.
Im away, again, so popping out to the car isn’t possible, unfortunately I cannot quite remember the arrangement.
More info later, if required.
