Locked driver’s door

I have a disclock on the steering wheel, on the drive I have a roof cover, so I leave them unlocked.
Not least as a good downpour sets the alarm off.

If you have concerns about the superlock, you can just cut the wire to disable it permanently. There are posts on how to do this. It seems very simple if you want to do that. I don't think it adds much in terms of security and the low value of these cars means they are not that likely to be stolen.  

I am going to look this disabling the superlock up. It has no use to me.

If my car gets stolen my claim form will state the car was locked at the time.
An assesor will never get near these cars in a normal theft/accident they are just written off. 

Talking of car insurance I've just found out my daughter has been paying £2500 a year to insure her tiny 1.2 litre Fiat 500. Late 20s, 5 years no claims and they've been insisting on the indignity of a damnable black box too. WTF. Like a mug she had stayed with the same company and just assumed it was normal for the premiums to keep increasing and so had doubted she could afford to run anything a bit quicker.. Now we've had a conversation she's moved to a different insurer for around £ 500 plus the penny has dropped she's she can feasibly upgrade to a faster car whilst still saving money compared to her old premiums. I do wonder how the hell a reputable insurer can regard such blatant overcharging as remotely ethical.
Then there's us agonising about the whys and wherefores of dispensing with the pointless and troublesome superlock, remapping an ECU to improve economy, painting our wheels a different colour etc.etc. 
No doubt these profiteering wankers would charge motorcyclists higher premiums for not having an ashtray if they could.

Disabling super lock, although better done behind the centre console, at the main connector, it can easily be done by removing the door cards, locating the door lock connectors (2, one 6 way the other a 2 way as far as I recall), pop both off the door & separate, this will make it easier, then cut the brown wire with pink tracer*. As I’ve said before I’ve fitted bullet connectors to reconnect if required.
* Please check those colour before laying waste to your wiring.

I think that the idea behind the "super lock " facility was to prevent someone from reaching in and just pulling the locking button whilst the hood is down. 

Why should that disable being able to gain access via the use of the key?

The super lock conundrum comes around as sure as Halley’s Comet but more frequently & it usually has the same sort of effect as a fox in a hen house with panicked people doing the headless chicken run.
My guess is that it’s so infrequently used & ill understood that as soon as some problem is reported by a frantic member the panic flag gets run up the mast. It was after a traumatic event a good number of years ago did I disable my S/L as a knee jerk reaction, determined for it not to catch me out.
I forget about it until the frantic comet flashes past.
Problems will be few & far between but create an unhinged flap amongst the flock when someone gets locked out; it’s the same effect when someone locks their keys in the boot or the bonnet pop doesn’t & you end up breaking a rear lamp or shredding skin off your arm in the desperate attempt to get the bonnet open. That bit happens when you tug the boot release with too much vim, in that moment of annoyance, having an urgent meeting coinciding with a puncture on the same morning.
This is, as you know all too well the law according to sod.
My guess is the antipodeans will have a more colourful turn of phrase & I’m certain our treasured resident Strine will help in that respect.

When I lock my 2004 (Pektron) TF with the fob there is a big click and lots of flashing from the indicator lights.  I assume this is superlocking enabled in some kind of automatic mode.  AFAIK, you can't turn this off with pscan.  I've got enough trouble with my locks as it is:  the EKA doesn't work, the interior lights sometimes take 30-40 seconds before coming on etc...

We really do need a supplier of reconditioned RHD driver's side locks!

 This has been a fascinating subject. Is the cutting of the Brown with Pink trace to disable  'Supalock' the same for all TF's ( Lucas and Pectron )  ?  The reason for asking is that some years ago , 8 to be precise , I had just purchased my 05 plate TF which had only one working fob of two supplied when I bought the car. Technozen  came to my rescue as Paul Brown was able to sort out the non working fob and replace the pesky relays that fail in the BCU however , when I refitted the unit and locked the car I noticed that it supalocked the doors with one rather than two presses of the lock button. This has not been a problem for me but after reading the recent posts on this subject I'm  wondering if I should look into this next year when the car comes out of hibernation . I do have Pscan but was not aware that it can disable Supalock . Has anyone tried this with Pscan?
