If you are getting only 13.4volts, and you think the battery is fully charged, try running the battery down a little. Switch off and put the headlamps on for 5 minutes. Then check the voltage with the car running.

At tickover the voltage also depends on the tickover speed. Too low and the alternator will struggle to produce enough voltage. 850-875 is a good idle speed.

Also check the voltage at 2000 revs.

The battery was fully charged, I think it was showing 12.4 or .6V before I started the car. The battery was purchased just a week ago.

With revs up to 2000 rpm, the voltage does increase a little bit and the voltage drops a little when the lights are turned on.
