Terribly inaccurate fuel guage. 11 years 6 months ago #78805

My fuel guage is terribly inaccurate, if i put fuel in then it reads one thing but then within a mile or two it drops drematically. I know its bad but i only usually fill by £10 fuel at a time and one minute it reads above the red but within a mile or so drops to empty and i have to guess the fuel i have left by the miles i have covered! :(
Is this a common issue?

The fuel tank is a peculiar shape due to where it is situated (basically behind the seats)

So at low levels it tends to drop quicker than most cars.

also you may find that you get the needle rising after vigorous righthand cornering, this is due to fuel in the section behind the driver sloshing over behind the passenger as the sender is in the large section that sits behind the driver.

Almost totally correct.
The sender is in the passenger side, as I think you intended to write. Unless you're driving a left hand drive, cobber!

Yep, ours wanders when it dips much below a quarter.
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

You need to isolate where the fault is.

Now from my understanding of the fuel prices over there in Pomgolia, with only 10 quids worth, you would be lucky to get as far as a mile! :P
