Hello gents,
I would like to ask some question about the T4 software... All what i know is which have been used from the official rover workshop's
as a main diagnostic tools for ours cars ..
these are the questions:
whats the benefit instead of a normal obd reader...
it's necessary to have the dedicated computer or a normal laptop and an adapter can do the job?

There'll be lots of interest in this one. It can read things.

Normal Laptop would be fine as long as its got a serial port.
The T4 is an installable operating system so best to use an old laptop just for T4, or you could dual boot.

the down side is you'll need a set of T4 test leads, don't think it'll talk to anything else.

I have an old centrino with a rs232 port , and I can sacrifice it for this use...
It's easy to find these cables?
whats will be the extra function compare to a normal obd?

Cables are available but not cheap, either new or from ebay.

The T4 can write back to the car, so can reprogram most settings, such alarm and keyfob. You'd also be able to turn on off features of the car.

For example on the MG ZT not all models had one touch windows, but all had the required parts, the T4 can enable this feature.

Invalid or non-existent item ID.For a simple key coding, would you just need a cable to connect between your laptop and the obd2 port in the car?
I know when I had a new fob coded by Technozen, he merely connected his hand held Omitec into the car port and used that and the two fobs to code them up.

You can also get an adapter cable to turn any usb port into a rs232.

Yes it does, as far as I'm aware.

I'm excited with this thread if someone has a t4 laptop let me know I can clone it to run on any computer i virtualise all sorts at work

You'll need to fresh install, Cloning will kill its hardware key check, could go for installing into VM Ware player or HyperV on Win 8 Preview
