MGF dusted off and out for spring! 12 years 1 month ago #43147

Fetched our 1997 MGF 1.8i out yesterday for the first time this year! Had a sneaking feeling it was gonna be a good day today, so said to Karen..."fetch your top off" and we went topless to Ludlow :)! Weather was wonderful and the twisty thirty five miles or so had me smiling all the way :)! CD playing with drive type tunes like Guns 'n' Roses, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blue Oyster Cult etc. What a wonderful day. Stopped in Bridgnorth on the way back and loved every minute! Why do I love my MG's? God knows :)?

Come rain come shine - my F is never off the road, life is too short to miss a topless drive

Hey John,

I know how you feel. Yesterday was +17C and sunny here in southwestern Ontario, Canada (close to Detroit). My wife and went for a long drive along the the St Clair river in the MGF; it was fantastic! Usually the toys don't see the road until the end of March, but winter never really came this year, very weird. My wife was wondering when her car, a 1980 Spitfire, would be brought out of the barn so she start putting the miles on.

My F has been going all winter, but it was great to take the hard top off at the weekend! Now need the time to give the mechanicals some TLC. Not been running right, suspect engine coolant temp sensor may be dodgy - running a bit rough and a bit too cool... Watching one of the other threads with interest!

Ours stayed taxed last winter but didn't turn a wheel so decided to save a few pennies this winter. Besides with so many other nice cars to drive I have to give one a rest sometimes.

Gale force winds here today. Trees down, ferries docked, me inside with a coffee thinking of my poor mates at work.
Some days it's good to be on sick leave! :woohoo:

I did get my emissions test letter from the Motor Vehicle Branch. This will be the first test since I got the MGF so it will be interesting to see how it does. Fingers are crossed, No pass-no insurance! :pinch:

Funny you say that as I'm doing the emissions test immediately after a doctor's appointment to see how I am healing up following the operation (Uvulopalatopharyungoplasty)
I am hoping for a pass on the emissions and some better pain meds from the Doc!

My wife says if it was me taking the emissions test I would fail.
