Can pscan enable the factory low coolant light was created by MarkTF

I have bought a new coolant tank and low coolant sensor. My car is a 2005 TF 160. The plug already existed for the sensor and has 12.5 volts running through it, as tested with a multimeter. The problem is that the light will not come on when the tank is empty and ignition is on. According to the manual it should light for 4 seconds and then extinguish. Given it stays on for 4 seconds I would think that the ecu controls this. I have checked the bulb in the instrument panel is there and works and it also looks like the wiring is there too.  So, I am wondering if it has to be enabled when a factory sensor is fitted and can pscan do this somehow.
Any help appreciated.

I've not heard of this before, but that in itself doesn't count for much as I'm a F'er not a TF'er. However with the B&G low coolant temp sensor kit which uses the factory header tank with the float sensor, there is a little electronic box of tricks in the kit, that makes it all work.
It may well be that such a box may need to be fitted to your car.
Hopefully someone more familiar with the TF will be along soon to enlighten us further on this matter.

Not sure this helps you or not.
I have Dec 2004 built MGTF 135. When I bought it that light was permanently on.
I checked the wiring and it wasn’t plugged in . After plugging it in at the base of the tank the light went out without any intervention from Pscan.

This makes sense as the light was enabled but the sensor was not plugged in. The mystery remains!
Thanks

Easier to fit one of Bruce's inexpensive and foolproof low coolant alarms as a backup. No PSCAN required, in fact all thats required is a bod of sealant to glue the sensor on the coolant resevoir and 10 mins to plug into the loom and fit the buzzer.

I do wonder why you measure 12,5 Volt on plug because there should be none.
Are you sure you have correct plug in hand?

I probably should have got involved in this a bit sooner because I have come across the problem Mark describes before.

Way back in the mists of time, when I first trialled my coolant alarms on a few T-Bar volunteers, I was contacted by a chap called Bob; his T-Bar username was Bob Essex.  I don't know if he is still a member here.

His car was a 2005 TF.  He took one of my coolant alarms before discovering the same wiring around the coolant tank.  He also bought a coolant tank with the internal sensor, thinking that just connecting it would be all that was required.  It didn't work and, because he was local, I had a look at it with him.  It didn't help, so we fitted the low coolant alarm I had supplied to him.

There is a thread here .

Somebody must know what the secret is.  Could it be that we have reached the limit of Roverlike's knowledge?  ;-)

It could be that some of the later cars had the wiring and the warning light added as part of the standard build but no ECU function was added to complete it as a working feature. Probably due to budget cuts.

Low coolant alarm is operated by Pektron SCU unit. So if it is not working it needs to be enabled within SCU. SCU is responsible for bulb on dash for low coolant alarm glowing few seconds on ignition startup.

Why should there be none?

Because low coolant switch is making connection to earth. That would mean if switch is connected we would made short circuit and something would be burnt.

One wire is connection to SCU/BCU other wire is Black earth wire. Switch is making connection of the two wires and thus providing earth connection to SCU/BCU of designated pin and by that providing info that coolant is low.

So coding in the factory low coolant alarm sounds like something that would need the assistance of Technozen. Is that right?
