Vettel again. Ffs! I've watched and supported F1 since the 70's but I'm getting more and more peed off with this season than any other I can recall. Pay drivers, crap drivers. Rubbish and unfair stewarding.

If the 2014 new regs season doesn't yield more excitement then it's another formula to follow for us. Sadly, after all these years.

'Oh yeah baby, thank you guys woo hoo.' Aaaarrgggh! Pass the sick bag, then the shotgun, frankly.

Finger finger . Boltcroppers.

Go away, Sebastian. Learn humility in victory. Please.
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

F1 has been going downhill for many many years.

I loved it from the Mid 80's through to 2000. From there on, it's been awful. With the one exception. The 2009 season. 2009 was a fairy tale with the little Brawn team reborn from the ashes of Honda coming good. It actually made me interested in F1 again. Then from 2010 onwards *yawns*

Pay drivers have been a feature of F1 from almost the beginning. Indeed I'm sure James Hunt was a pay driver when he drove for Hesketh.

Precisely :yesnod:
I have lost interest in F1 :yesnod: & wouldn't pay the prices to attend.
Take note that you proposed a trip next year to Spa, which would rule me out.
Better a good location & scenery etc. than some thing specialised ,like spending a lot of money watching a procession :coat:

Agree 100%

In the past I even dropped out of my bed in the early morning to watch the oversea's races.

Stayed in bed and slept well last Sunday.

Maybe we see a change with the 2014 regulations - new engine etc?

:drive:
as ever,

I can't help wondering if Caterham would be pushing Williams if they'd stuck with Trulli and Kovalainen instead of using pay drivers.
As a Button fan the worst thing this season is the poor showing of McLaren.

IMHO, the main thing that is ruining F1 for me is SKY. Bernie Ecclestone (a slimy little British money-grubbing tosser) should never have been allowed to sell the rights to that slimy little money-grubbing Aussie tosser.
Korean GP qualifying - woken up at 07:30 by the BBC news broadcast that told me the starting line up! Thanks BBC.
Korean GP itself = avoid all news until 1400 to get a chance of watching highlights without knowing the result.

The race - watch Vettel in a clearly superior car waltz off (2 second lead in the first lap)and then cruise for 95% of the race. (Vettel is a good driver, but he is not 2 seconds a lap better than anybody else) At the end with worn tyres he popped in a fastest lap that was 0.6 better than anyone else.
The only interest came from accidents. Take out the accidents and safety cars and what happened?

They keep faffing about with specs and DRS and kers and tyres to make it more interesting. Here's an idea -Ditch the massive aero wings! That's what is making it processional. Allow one simple wing at the front one at the back, maybe even standardise them...
Bring back refueling. What's the point of having a car capable of x.x lap time carrying a tone of fuel and doing x.x +4.5 seconds a lap. That's not racing.

We still intend to do Spa in 2014: we're hoping that the reg changes, which apparently no team wanted but are going ahead anyway, actually levels the field. Whatever else, the atmosphere at a GP is intoxicating.

If Renault cock up the new engine then no amount of A Newey recycled aeroplane bits will help the Fizzy Pop Endless Money Team. Plus, Ricciardo is a bit cack, quite frankly. Anyone that grins that much has to be in the Special category.

We're stuck with pay/sponsorship drivers: many teams can't function without them. So we're stuck with the likes of Maldonuglio.

It's all a bit sad really, but it's always been about politics and cash. The heyday for many was the seventies: go and watch Rush for how it really was. An excellent film. Exciting action but same old cack that we have now as regards cash and sponsorship.

I'd love to see today's 'heroes' drive a Moss, Clark or Stewart era race: 'ooh, I have to change gear. With a lever? I need a Kevlar reinforced glove. If I get a blister my Nivea contract will be at risk. What's a clutch darling? Tooooo many pedals. Oh that corner IS soooo bumpy: better contact my agent. I don't get paid 50 mil a year for this, sweetheart, oh no. It's a rough tough life.

Steelworkers and miners should try what we do. Then they'd know what real work is. The heat we have to tolerate for TWO whole hours. We lose 90% of our body weight you know. And then have to be fanned back to life by a fit pit girl in a minidress. In our air conditioned Winnebago. Or if we're slumming it, our yacht.

Ah. I see. They don't get fifty mil of quids a year like us? Oh. Not even get free Rolex watches? Surely not. I thought everyone did. You'll be telling me next they don't have houses in Monte Carlo. Air travel isn't exclusively by private jet...... Hmm......
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

I'm jealous! I don't have a local boozer, seriously this suburb is a dry area (full of closet sherry drinkers)

Unfortunately the Wowsers got the area declared dry way back in 1918.
As for moving that's a no go for me as I'm need to be in the geographic center of the city Greater Melbourne (which is @10 km SE of the CBD) for my work as I have to work all over town and Melbourne is physically speaking a very large city. It may not have a large population by international standards but they are spread out, not all that much high density housing here.

I don't do vino, why would I want to drink that muck when I can drink whisky or high quality ales?
