I know what you mean about an old car traveling all over Europe. On a plus point I've moto toured Europe every year since 1995, except during COVID however always on motorbikes . During that time I've had two breakdowns, once on a brand new moto guzi cal 1100 had to be recovered home, the second time on my BMW k750 rt brakes failed. Managed to get the BMW sorted in Spain and carried on with the trip. My BMW now has 125k miles on it, and last year covered 3k in Europe and 4k at home. So why an MG ft well my wife can't manage the bike anymore and it's the only car I've driven that has the feel of a motorbike. Let's hope I go to Europe and have trouble free motoring, if I don't well it adds to the adventure, don't think my wife would see it that way though. should have said the BMW is on a 89 plate, they use to be built by engineers back then now sadly built by accounts
Hi thanks for the reply.
One vehicle is a 1'8 spark the other is a 1.8 sport, both cars are situated at LCC car sales in Baildon Shipley. I'm looking at part X my current drive which is a Fiat 500cc convertible. I've been offered the right mony for it so would have abou 2k on top of the price of the car to put things right if needed. The plan is to get the right car as I'm under taking a 2 month tour of Spain ,France ,Italy the end of April , followed by a month tour to Greece in September. Any work needing doing on the car would probably go to a specialist,I was thinking of Rough luck racing. They have a mobile service plus their facilities are on route to my daughter's house.
Sorry should have said the vehicle has 91k on it but the garage also has another TF with 57k on it on an 03 plate again a very solid looking car for the same price
Hi all new member here. I'm about to purchase a TF on a 05 plate with 91k on the clock. The car looks very solid no rust that I can see and has only had 2 owners. The service records aren't great and this vehicle will be my daily drive. Should I replace head gasket, timing belt and water pump as a matter of course. It has a hard top for winter use and is costing 4k it's coming from a garage with 6 months warranty and 12 months MOT. So the question is should I take a punt or look around for one with less miles and better service record.
Thanks in advance
