Mmmm not entirely true..

These rose joints come with dust seals.. Grease both sides, fit dust seals, install..

Every 3 months check condition, clean and re-grease.. 10 min job..

I'm still happy to run rose joints..

Rose joints in lower arms would be exposed to far more spray etc.. And plenty of cars run them on the road

Seals as in boots, same thing really ..

Check every 3 months hmmmmm same thing really ..

Some people do not have your fetish for tinkering and checking their ends every 3 months could become a pain the butt

I can live with 2 hours every 3 months to re-grease rose joints.. Top arms.. Check bolts are tight etc..

Do you twist the knobs on your shocks regularly Jan? And spray them with penetrating oil? Otherwise they will seize..

One at the base of each shock...

Set them to rock hard on track days... And soft on the road :broon:

Personally I'd run the rears on maximum on the rear and the front a little softer on the track

I don't do track days so they can stay as they are

Another thing, I was chatting to a race mechanic about the Bilsteins and this business about the shocks or what ever it is going through the wings, etc, he thinks some are getting a little confused and asked how many MGF's have actually had this happen ..

The only car I know of that has had this happen is one of Daryls, was not fitted with Biilsteins and was a rot box ..

So

:soapbox:

Although many of the help links that and advise that is given is good, a lot of it is quite frankly scare mongering for those of us who do not use their cars on the tracks, treat them with respect and wrap them up in cotton wool ..

Our cars are simply not drive hard enough to encounter these problems ..

If you run uprated shocks on hardest setting there is every chance the mounts will fracture in time a

All of the cup cars had to be uprated as they ran stiffer shocks, poly bushes and stiffer ARBs

If you run uprated shocks on the easiest setting there is little chance of damage...

But having said that... If you run them on the lowest setting what's the point of having them? May as well just stick with standard shocks... ?

Err... one of my rear damper top mounts fractured. With standard dampers fitted...and no rust either.
