Carbon fibre is stronger and lighter than fibreglass. It also has a nice finish unpainted, as opposed to fibreglass which has to be painted. CF is the prefered material for performance cars.

Carbon Fibre it is then.

I bought some blue carbon fibre, but it was too different from my cars colour. If anyone wants coloured carbon and can source it themselves then I am sure it can be done.

After the service day when we went to the Hull modified show, I had a word with a guy about his bonnet (red CF) from what he was saying the best way to get a colour match is a couple of thin coats of paint, but then thick lacquer over the top, he says you still get the CF effect through the paint,

indeed and that the colour strands aren't fiberglass there actually something elses so i assume they will effect weight and strength too

worth it for the look imo

Oh, go on then. :)

The project was delayed due to his other work commitments and then the cold weather as he couldn't get his workshop to a decent enough temperature for the resin to cure.

He has sent me some pics of the building of the mould. Still ongoing, but you can see that it is progressing and should get his full attention now a it will be taking up a large portion of his workshop.

The pics are small, but it is something to be going on with.
