2009 MGTF immobiliser issue

My car is currently disabled by the immobiliser. Probably the fobs are out of sync. I have replacement fobs on order, and I have a PSCAN (which I have never yet used). I note that the PSCAN web says that fob programming has been tested on MGFs, but does not mention TFs. Will it work on TFs? Or would people recommend a KMaps ECU instead, as I understand this removes the immobiliser function (as well as giving the intended performance upgrades)

If you ordered correct Pektron oval fobs with bar codes which are needed for programming them to Pektron alarm box, then PScan can code them.

Use of KMaps or SAWS is your choice depending what you want to acomplish.

Thanks. I read in some places that a working fob is needed in order to program a new one. Is that true?

One working fob is needed in order to unimmobilise the Pektron alarm system if it is not already unimmobilised.
Point is you cannot access the Pektron alarm system in order to program new fobs if Pektron system is in immoblised state. You do not have EKA code unimmobilisation as an option since your car is 2009. If this happens to be your situation then maybe best for you is to contact Paul @  https://www.technozen-electronics.co.uk/  and see what options you have.

There are quite enough things to immobilise our cars without the damned ECU joining in the fun, just for the bloody devilment of it...........Get the ECU remapped, lose the idiotic immobiliser function and pick up a few extra horsepower whilst your at it......win win!

KMAPS tell me I would also need to earth an output on the Pektron unit, as the immobiliser stops the engine cranking, as well as sending a signal to the ECU. But I am starting to think the issue might be the micro switches in the door lock - if I open and close the lock a few times the fault clears.

Do you want to say if you lock and unlock the car with the key then after some time you can use the fob and after that you can start the car? If this is the case then I do not think you have problem with your fob, but the problem is somwhere else, like ground connection or similar. If this is the case have you checked boot wiring that it is not broken?

It was a bit erratic, but I am now more or less convinced that the problem lies within the door locks - if the car won't start, I can persuade it to by manually operating the lock button on the driver's door up an down a few times.
