Please accept apologies if this has been covered before and if I’m posting this in the wrong section. I have done a search and can’t see an exact answer to my question.
On this occasion I’m referring to a MGTF 135 car built in late 2004 and first registered in 2005 fitted with the Pektron security system.
I have gained the impression that the Pektron BCU and the engine ECU “talk” to each other, or at least are coded to each other.
I have also gained the impression that the volumetric device is not BCU specific. If that is incorrect please let me know.

My primary question is this (and it assumes that there is more than one version of the engine ECU). Is the BCU for the Pektron systems common from its introduction to the end of production including the Chinese cars?
If there are differences can someone please indicate the part numbers and associated cut off points please?

Unable to answer your question fully , but I have used Pscan to link Pektron SCU to both Motorola (MGRover) ECU and Continental (SAIC) ECU. Therefore I assume Pectron works with all MEMS3 units. However not all MEMS3 units work with all engines. So if you have a correct ECU for your engine it should work with your Pectron SCU once linked.

Pektron BCU/SCU is coded to engine ECU. If engine ECU does not see coded Pektron BCU/SCU present and working then engine ECU will not work.

Volumetric sensor is independent sensor. It is not coded to Pektron BCU/SCU.

Pektron BCU/SCU is introduced into MG TF starting with VIN number 4D620459. Part number of that Pektron BCU/SCU is YWC001540 (working frequency 433MHz).

Pektron BCU/SCU was superceded with new version which included remote boot opener from third button on the remote and low coolant alarm. That happened starting with VIN number 4D631801. Part number of that Pektron BCU/SCU is YWC001541 (working frequency 433 MHz).

MG TF cars from China use latest version of Pektron BCU/SCU part number YWC001541 (working frequency 433 MHz).

You can replace YWC001540 with YWC001541 but vice versa is not possible for obvious reasons.

That is very useful to know thank you.
Hopefully the latest model YWC001541 would be capable of coding into the engine ECU from the 2004 year car (always providing you have a fob with its code and probably a new fob would be best).

Yes, SAIC (Chinese) Pektron SCU and be coded to MGRover (UK) ECU using PScan tool. Have done it, no issues.

The communication between Pektron and MEMS3 is "one way".  The Pektron sends a code called the EMS code to the MEMS3, and the MEMS3 either accepts that EMS code, or it doesn't.  There is no information sent back in the other direction.
