The MG badge is such a great logo I wondered how it got designed. Apparently Cecil Kimber had quite an eye for design and had a young accountant in his office who was a keen amateur artist, Edmund Lee, and Kimber saw his sketches for an M.G. badge in 1923 and grabbed the drawings Lee had made and included the Octagon design in an ad in September 1923, and on a car in 1924. One of the rumours about its origin had it being copied from the art deco GWR (Great Western Railway) logo, but that turns out to have been designed in September 1934, over a decade later, so Edmund Lee, accountant and amateur artist is the man.
