just wondered if anyone out there who has changed the lower link arm on their TF ever noticed if it had a lower link bush spacer attached?

The TF manual on section 64-10 states that this spacer should be refitted .

I changed my lower link arm as per the great HOW TO by CJJ with no probes -except I now have a strange clunk when decelerating ( not with the brakes)

If you mean the front lower wishbone, there are spacers in front of the bushes. I noticed this when I replaced mine.
If you have a clunk when braking, first thing I would look at is if you have one, is your spare wheel secured properly.
Then maybe its time to get the jacks back out again!
