Invalid or non-existent item ID.I've picked up spark door inserts pods and cappings, Not these but similar just shown as an example ( )

My car is a 1998 MGF I'm picking up different information some say the inserts are separate items to the door card and can be exchanged other info says the door card is a complete moulded unit and the inserts cant be removed. Before I go to the hassle of removing the door card if MG changed the design from solid moulded cards to the type you can change the inserts has anybody any idea when they done this please.

I realise if I use my new inserts the interior door handle capping will need to be replaced from the oblong shape to the oval shape.

If I remember correctly, the inserts are held in with metal tabs through the door card.

Thanks a lot for the reply David yes the inserts I have metal tabs on the back. But somebody told me on the earlier F doorcards the inserts aren't detachable it was only on later models they are. What I was wondering IF this is true when did they change the design to the cards that the inserts could be detached?

I only have direct experience of the later door cards, unfortunately.

As I recall the mk1 F door cards are one piece and don't have the inserts like the mk2. The mk2 cards can be fitted to mk1 F's however and then you can swap the insets to suit your interior.

Thanks a lot cairnsys for the clarification this is what I heard elsewhere. Guess if I want to fit the inserts I have I'll need to keep my eyes open for the later door cards.

I fitted mk1 door inserts to mk2 door cards with no bother other than I had to make an extra hole for one of the tabs to go through and trim a little round the handle as I kept the square insert.
