Doorcards and inserts help please. 7 years 5 months ago #174098

I fitted mk1 door inserts to mk2 door cards with no bother other than I had to make an extra hole for one of the tabs to go through and trim a little round the handle as I kept the square insert.

Hi Andy I have read this a couple of times and I'm confused (not difficult I know !!!) but do you mean you have fitted Mk2 inserts to a Mk1 door card (not the other way around as your thread says)? If so that's exactly what I'm trying to do. Can you explain a bit more how you done it when you get a min please. Cheers Rob

I did an interior swap a couple of years ago from black to beige which included mk2/tf door cards with wood cappings above the inserts so I removed them and put my mk1 cream leather ones in the mk2 cards with the square handle covers.

The only mod I had to do was put an extra hole in the door card where one of the tabs went through and trim a little by the handle.

I'll post some picks up later.

Well bit the bullet (I'm not that techno) messing with cars, but using the link Col.Mustard sent me above fitted inserts to my Mk1 F, you guys probably think its easy peesy, but ripping the fabric from my existing door card and drilling all sorts of holes I felt quite nervous :nonod: But it worked out well I think

I also connected up the HRW that's in my new hood AND IT WORKS

Cheers Andy.

Andy am I right in thinking you are in the Cheshire area.....if so and I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules doing this but there are a few of us (mainly F's and Tf's owners) who meet up once a month, there are not loads of us at the mo but who knows it might get going as it did a few years back when there were 20/30 regular attendees. Maybe a few on here might be interested. Check out http://northwestroadsters.blogspot.co.uk/

:drive: Thanks wasn't quite sure but just thought fellow enthusiasts living in Cheshire, North Staffs, Lancs might welcome the idea of meeting up for a bit of lunch, chat and when the weather improves a few runs.
