As a daily car which we use to go and see my 89 year old mother in law in Bilbao in Spain we need 4 doors ( you can't expect a 89 year old to climb in the back of a 2 door car), as there will be my wife, my mother in law and myself we need at least 3 seats and a McLaren only has 2 doors, show we a good looking 4 door 4 seat convertible and I'll consider it instead of 1 of my 2 MGFs.

Finally show me an affordable replacement for a MG now they are made in China and come with lawn mower engines - there's no replacement for displacement. There are few cars that have a passion, MGs used to, Alfas still do.

Apart from disagreeing about the number of doors and number of seats, the roof and country of origin you are spot on.

Glad to see you have not, completely, lost your since of humour

We all have different needs and wants from our cars, and my company car makes complete since, though completely boring I wouldn't even dream of mentioning what it is here!!!)

You can however poke fun at my choice in cars to replace both my TF's.....a Mercedes SLK 350!

Ticks the two door, two seat, convertible, with a lot more poke (275bhp) but at the moment seems to be a heavy, less nimble car than the TF

And cost 3x to run!

However looking forward to the mile eating comfort on my trips to the south of this continent I wouldn't dream of doing in the TF due to comfort and concern over reliability (though the TF's have never let me down on 2-3000 mile round trips)

Of course I do not have a mother in law to accommodate during these trips

The SLK makes perfect since to me, but is a "sledgehammer" compared to the TF.....
