Need your input .. as you all have heard me drabble on about the clutch on the tf I need to figure out where roughly the standard bite point is on our cars and weather im just being paranoid or indeed it needs replacing ... last week I changed the clutch fluid and it felt lighter and the bite point was around 2 -3 inches from the floor ..great!! But it didnt last and over a few days its moved back to being around 2 inches from the top of the pedal travel.

ive read multiple posts on the net that all contradict each other .. some say its a worn clutch and some say its fine ad long as its not slipping.

so my question to you all is how high is your bite point on your cars??

Ive not drove another tf and have nothing to compare mine to so your imput here will be invaluable.

im hoping that if it does need doing .. ill get it done next weekend

thanks in advance

That sounds fine to me.
If you are worried the clutch is on the way out try starting the car and let it idle, and then with your foot on the brakes, slip it into fourth gear and slowly release the clutch. If the car stalls quickly the clutch is still OK. Try it in second to be double sure.

"Blue" seems to have a high bite point but have never ha clutch slip in her. "Elsie's" is very low to the floor and the 75th's is lowish but not as low as "Elsie's" :-? so none of the 3 hear are actually the same.

Jake has to be pretty wound up to reach his biting point .....but snatching away his cream cake should do it.

Its not slipping just feels really high which is causing me a bit of bother because im 6 ft 1 inch tall and my knee is hitting the steering wheel .. pain in the arse in traffic

My thinking is that the clutch is worn hence the high biting point and fitting a new clutch would bring it back down nearer the floor.

May just leave it how it is for now im not going to throw 300 quid at it if its normal for a tf and not going to help

David - I tryed what you said and it stalled straight away in 4th , 3rd and second gears so the clutch is good.

is there any way of lowering the bite point on a hydrolic clutch??

The Rover 45 suffers this and there is a spacer fix to drop the pedal. Now if thsi would work on the F is THE question?
