Which black bits to recolour? 11 years 10 months ago #53508

Well after getting the red hood I have come to the conclusion I'll have to recolour the window surround to match Megs bodywork. However I am also thinking the scuttle would look nice shiny Nightfire, and maybe the wing mirror mounts too? Also I fancy changing the cheap black plastic grille on the scuttle to some nice alloy mesh like Meg's boot grille. The bits are marked below:

I am downloading Photoshop now as I can apparently recolour photos with it! Then I can see what it would look like hopefully.

What do people think?

Window surround, sounds like a good idea bringing it inline with the MY2000 and TF.

The scuttle panel??? don't think it will work, the windscreen has a thick black border which blends in to the black scuttle. I would leave alone. The grills in alloy would just emphasise them, why would you want to emphasise them?

Less is more sometimes but :nofight:

I would defo do the window surround but I would personaly leave the scuttle as is as the wipers would stand out more, plus its an ugly bit of holy plastic, best black. ;)

As for the mirror bases, thats 50/50, i'd leave them black as they look better from the side. :broon:

I think that a picture paints a thousand words. It would really help in making a decision Adam. Always best to look before you leap. :)

I recently acquired Photoshop CS5 and it can all be a bit confusing initially. :-?
I heartily recommend the video lessons here PSD Tuts + by Michael Perhiniak. :broon:
They are good easy to follow guides to achieving something amazing quickly with PS. :yesnod:

If you're into photography, Digital Photo magazine usually comes with a disc of handy photoshop hints with each issue too.

I am having the same debate in my head about Penelope...

Think I've decided to colour code the hight rear brake light surround, fuel cap and black part of wing mirrors, like this on Dawn's (Teachey3) F:

Definitely want to do exterior of window surround, as you have suggested to do for Meg.

Not sure about scuttle and wing mirror mounts :dunno:
