Would that be the 1933 MG team led by Lord Howe and George Easton who took 1 and 2 in their class in the famous Mille Miglia?

Correct. They actually became the first non Italian team to win the team prize. Although Birkin retired no other team finished without a retirement. Source MG by F Wilson McComb

Yes well done MG mad, correct on all counts. The new MG is likely to remain a limited edition with that price tag too.
