Been fiddling today between the snow showers.

I took the snorkel off the top of the blower so that I could seal it properly and get rid of one of my leaks.

I couldn't believe that the 3 bolts on the front edge didn't have captive nuts, considering that it is nigh on impossible to get a spanner on them. It must have been installed before the master cylinder. What were they thinking. :dunno:

I ended up jamming a screwdriver in to my nuts to hold them in place. ;)

So, another mod I did was to use my rivnut tool and fit some rivnuts so I wouldn't have the same problem next time.

Once it was off I dried the seal off and applied some roofing sealant to the bulkhead. Non of your namby pamby silicone sealant, but some house roofing/guttering type stuff. :)

Put the snorkel back on and bolted it back into place.

Smoothed the sealant off around the edge and hopefully I can forget about the leak.

Put my carpet, passenger seat and door cards back in. So I nearly have a complete car now. :yesnod:

I'm sure I'll find this out soon enough. Good work!

The only part I have come across so far is the crap design of getting the sound proofing carpet/mould from out of the engine cover/rear roof area.

Here you go mate.

You use it like a big rivet. You drill a hole, screw the rivnut onto the end of the tool, place it in the hole and squeeze the handles. This causes the rivnut to expand in the hole and grip to the metalwork. You now have a captive nut. Very useful tool.

Ingenious solution Clive.... I used 6mm nuts ttached to a long flat bladed screwdriver with insulation tape then a bit of fiddling got them threaded on.

Respect though!

I probably would have done similar if I didn't already have the rivnuts.
