The way those buses drive is it any surprise ! Not far from me, and Mates Aunt was the women who broke her ankle .. Its all over Stratford fb and everyone is sick of those buses, and the way they are driven .... The drivers are arrogant tossers who think nothing of pushing you into a ditch and exceed speed limits on all the tourist routes which unfortunately include our country lanes ...

Until that is a fact it should not be said as such...
The buses drive in the middle of Featherbed and if that is where the bridge is just after the left hand bend then they always road hog ..
The bus has swerved off to the left and the cars main impact was on the drivers side ....
The buses are, and always be, a bone of contention for those of us that have to endure them on a daily basis, every 15 minutes through the summer .....

That car wasnt just doing 40mph was it? When engines get ripped out then someone was giving it the beans...

Thats the problem with national speed limits, which is what Featherbed comes under, if not I am sure Mark will correct me .. I am not condoning the fast driving but the point is these roads were not built for double decker tour buses which our council has introduced, with no consideration for these roads. which were originally built for country traffic, or 2 cars passing .. The buses take over half the road and are driven quite often in the middle, you either pull over or you hit a ditch to avoid them .. As said they are and always will be a bone of contention, this is not the first, and will not be the last accident they have caused which has resulted in death ..

The police have specialists with purpose made kit to reconstruct crashes like this. They often get rather different answers to the wirness statements drivers give.
If this was a 40 MPH limit then both vehivles could have been at that, or slightly over. Kinetic energy is proportional to the square of the speed and in a head on its the closing speed, so this could have been effectively a 90 MPH crash. I make that 5 times the energy.
My son was subjected to a traumatic experince here when a bus driver knocked over and killed a harmless old lady on a zebra crossing, he gave first aid and appeared as a witness and helped convict the driver which helped a bit, but a psychopath like that should never have charge of a 10 ton vehicle.
We do use buses on enviironmental grounds, and we have got drivers sacked more than once,on one occasion we got off early and waited for the next bus we were so concerned.

What a terrible accident.

My wife and I just might be travelling that road this summer. We shall mind the buses.

Let us all know when and the Marauderers could meet up with you .. :broon:

Stan very informative ..

A lot of people call me a wuss (MarkMGF and RD) as I do not drive Madam in the snow, rain, dark, or generally bad weather, this thread is a reason why ..
To get to where I live it is all narrow country lanes, great in the summer, but deadly at night, there are no footpaths, lights, 6/8ft deep ditches line each side with a bank of mud which the council thoughtfully put there when digging said ditches out, not realising that they were actually reducing the road width by yet another 6/8ft each side !
I bought my Landy for shopping and snow, I now use it as my main car as I freely admit I am to scared of driving on these roads in the winter at night..
The wild life around here is astounding, but should I have the misfortune to hit a deer or monkjack even the odd mutant hare, I would rather be safe in the Landy than in Madam, quite simply there is no where to swerve should the need arise ...
