Re: What car did you learn to drive in? 12 years 4 months ago #33658

I learned to drive in a motor schools Mk 1 Escort and my own 1960 Anglia but the first car I drove was my father's 1965 Ford Corsair Automatic.

The Anglia was Sunburst yellow with a Snowberry white roof and large areas of grey primer covering up the chickenwire and isopon filler in the front wings! An identical Anglia apart from the primer, chickenwire and isopon was shown on the front cover of one of the classic car monthly mags recently I got so nostalgic I had to buy a copy.

As I replaced the Anglia with another one and then a Mk 1 Cortina I drove nothing but Fords between the ages of 17 and 21 except for a quick trip round the block in my friend's father's Vauxhall Victor FE when he wasn't looking.

I learned to drive on a 1949 John Deere B, must have been about 8 years old at the time.

I think the first car I drove was a 1977 VW Rabbit and took my driving test in a 1983 VW Rabbit. My first car was a 1947 Willy CJ3 Jeep.
