Picked up my first MGF in silver. Needs some TLC but the drive is nice enough. I wouldn't mind some more feeling in the brakes, so I think an overhaul of them is due.

The firewall flexes like buggery, have a glamorous assistant jump up and down on the brake pedal whilst you watch the firewall flex.
Somewhere on here there are drawings for a brace to stiffen the mounting point of the brake booster/master cylinder assembly.
Also check to state of the flexible brake hoses, there are stainless braided hoses available.
There are larger brakes available too.
All it takes is money 💰

I remember driving back from Galway & through Mullingar in biblical rain, everyone seemed to be resigned to it, all in black waterproof’s bent into the driving rain, redolent of an LS Lowery painting. We were stopped at a junction & a bloke & child were approaching & the child in red welly’s jumped into a puddle & soaked the bloke even more than he was. It didn’t sound like he was pleased with the outcome.
You mention the brakes not having much feel, your not driving in wellingtons are you?

I'm only 20mins outside Mullingar.
Definitely no wellies here.

Welcome to the forum. Tell us more about your F. Is it a 110, a 120 or a 145 VVC ?

Welcome to the forum, drop me a line if you need anything, I finally swapped out the manky white trim steering wheel for an all black one last night. Might be just as dirty but at least its not as obvious as the white one.

I can help you out with tools like the suspension pump and stuff.

Mat, just north of Athenry.

I actually don't know. Is there an easy way to find out?

It should say on the registration document. Otherwise you can tell from the VIN number. There's a useful article on that here; http://mgf.ultimatemg.com/group1/info/Chassis_numbers/index.htm

Hey Matt
Thankyou, a very generous offer.
Once I've read up some more on the suspension system I'm sure I'll be looking for more helpful advice.

The singlemost important improvement to make when getting an F or TF is to add a coolant level alarm if one has not already been fitted by a previous owner.
