Back in the fold after 14 years 5 years 10 months ago #186453

Hi,
I owned a 1995 Red MG F from 2000-2002, and a pearl black TF160 with black leather seats and air con from 2002-2004.
The F had the usual leaky passenger footwell and boot, then developed a hesitation when accelerating, so i P ex'd it for a new TF 160 with a 'employees's discount' - managed via a brown envelope with cash and a local dealer. No wonder MGR went under...

I should have kept the TF, but I got cold feet over depreciation and sold it for a Triumph Spitfire 1500 '76, followed by a Triumph GT6 mk 3 '73.
Last year I didn't own a car, living in London, but I need to travel back and forth to Bristol to visit my parents who have become very frail.

So after a bit of deliberation I decided to get another TF. A 4,400 mile Radiant Red TF135 registered in 2011. The car has been very well kept and, being used to looking after classics, I intend to do the same. Immediate plans are to retrofit the 2005MY MGR instruments as I can't see the spirally red ones well at night....

Also thinking about retrofitting A/Con (yes I know what it involves) as my TF 160 had it and its REALLY useful if you drive on the motorway on a hot day or get stuck in traffic. Not to mention clearing condensation in the winter. I just need to find a specialist in the SE who is willing to do the job....

:welcome: :welcome: :welcome: don't bother with the a/c not worth the headache or the funding just open your windows like i do, soon clears the condensation, and it will give you more money to put your mark on it,

Take your point and yes thats true to some extent, but the TF cabin gets very stuffy and hot when not moving on a hot day. Imagine being study in traffic on the motorway when you don't want the roof down (fumes, noise and perhaps TOO strong sun)..... Not an infrequent occurrence these days. We drove back from Cornwall to London last bank holiday and I realised why I had A/C on my TF160.... Anyway have found parts and a specialist garage to fit.

Noise is coming from my radio. I never ever have the roof down when not raining. I can't see the use of an airco in a cabrio either....
