Amazing answer, Roverlike, as usual.
It’s a luxury to have you in this forum.

Thanks so much :):)

Hello all

I have two short seatbelt stalks from a later Pektron-electrics TF, with the yellow connector for the SRS
Can I fit them to my Lucas-electrics early TF without playing havoc with the SRS, ECU, immobiliser...?
If so, anyone knows the ref number of the corresponding connector (the one to fit in the "car wire" to engage the seatbelt yellow connector)?

Thanks so much,
Pedro

Sure, Cobber, that was really dumb on my part 🤦🏻‍♂️
I think I am no using well NS/OS

To make thinks clearer, I see the belts on the RH side(OS?) and I understand CLK000020 was fitted there?
And the fibre part in the LF side?

Thanks so much. I really don’t like to see those belts and pulleys getting all the grit fron the wheels

Thanks for all the answers :)

So, as I understand it, that part CLK000020 was originally fitted in the OS to protect the alternator (also in TFs??)

And a fibre cover was fitted in the NS, to protect the belts??
Anyone can provide a part number for that?

As AlisoJo says, it seems weird to have an empty space there apparently prepared to receive some kind of shield.

Hello all

My 2003 135 TF lacks any liner/protection for the belts in the rear wheel arches. The front are properly lined with a big plastic part.
I have only found one part suitable for that at Rimmers, that is ref CLK000020

My questions are:
Is that the only mud shield the car had when first bought? And only for the NS?
Is it the same in MGFs?
It is like this just for saving MG Rover some money or has it something to do with engine cooling improvement?

Thanks so much,
Pedro

I don’t mean to take this thread off topic but since Roverlike posted the following;
”in case of second half of 2003 onwards MGTF is equipped with Pektron BCU. That unit is paired with engine ECU or Engine Management System. Remote fobs are paired with BCU. All of that can be done woth PScan. However do not forget you need barcode with remote fob if you want to pair it with Pektron
BCU”
I presume the link to the ECU is to cut the power supply or earth so the engine won’t start?
If so could you retain the immobiliser with an aftermarket ECU?

Original engine ECU is set to question 5AS or BCU for dedicated paired code. If that code is not present, engine ECU will not work, it will be immobilised.
However if engine ECU is remaped or aftermarket ECU is used and that questioning sequence for paired code is removed you will be able to use engine ECU without immobilisation as it is not present.
Not to be confused, you still needs remote fobs since 5AS or BCU is still present and it will do its remaining functions of prevention but not the engine immobilisation.

My 2003 TF (Lucas fob) has now an ECU sent by K-Maps, not the original one (happy with the remap, BTW)
Does it mean the immobilisation has been erased?
I was thinking of having it suppressed, it would be a nice addition if it has already been done

You get a nicer, whiter and more powerful beam. And for me having a colder bulb means less ageing of the headlamp in the long run

Having bought a new one at B&G I can tell you they are expensive and scarce (at least for a LHS car)

I am away from home now and can’t have a look at it; but I seem to remember fitting H7s was a breeze and Hb3s far more difficult (or was it the other way round?) specially on the battery side

You have to modify the rubber dust covers, though. The new bulbs are bulgier and the standard covers have to be enlarged

Some weeks ago I fitted Night Breakers for the long beam (Hb3) and Osram leds for the dipped beam (H7), the idea being avoiding the hotter bulbs in the most common situation (dipped beam)
I guess I will have to swap the leds to halogens once a year for the MoT, but that’s easy to do

Both work a treat 😊

Hello all :)

This morning I changed the coolant temp sensor, finally, and the TF runs like new :):)
I took the chance to insulate the engine cover as several MGrs have shown recently, and in time I will do the same with other parts of the car. Getting rid of the dead dog was really satisfying.
As it seems to be the general rule, the front 3 bolts were missing. I've ordered a set of SS bolts from eBay, as I couldn't get through MGMania´s web site.

Thanks so much for your advise,
Pedro
