Hi,
Underneath gear selector there is a switch giving the electrical signal to both your ECU but also depicted in the dash. The 3500rpm limitation is that you go under safe mode and it goes off for some secs upon you restart the engine.
I believe the root cause is on this switch. Try to clean it initially with a dedicated spray without oil and give it a try. If it is ok then you need to replace it as it will not last much. Hope this helps
