  • Nothing to take out on the narrow end, as the end of the Rose joint is the seat at that end.
did you smooth off any damaged metal on the arm end, as in my how to?

Has the narrow end aperture been deformed in any way?

I inserted the bush by using a vice, what are you using, if it's still attached to the car?

Yep, still on the car.  No damage at all on the narrow end, I got it out quite cleanly on both ends to be honest.

I have been using the threaded bar with nuts and washers to try to get it in.  I can't get the fully assembled poly bush in as the poly part starts to crush up and the centre tube starts being pushed through on its own.  So, I get the bush in first and then try to wind in the tube with the threaded bar method and it gets through the arm but splits the bush as it is doing it.  I know they have to be tight but it really feels like a quart into a pint pot.

I have measure the OD of the metal tube, it is 2cm.  Does that sound about right as looking at the pics the thickness of the wall of the tube looks thicker?

  • Thanks David.  I did take that one out as I couldn't get the old one out until I did.  The issue I have seems to be at the 'narrower' end, is there also a collar I need to knock out at that end as well?  It doesn't look like it but perhaps I am missing it?

Sorry for being a bit simple on this

  • Thanks for the replies Gents

I am trying to do this whilst keeping the arm on the car as if I take it off and then can't get it back on i'm a bit screwed.

David - yes the rose jointed end at the hub, the one that should take the bottle shaped poly bush.  About the collar, do you mean the plastic one?  If yes then that came out with it.  Or is there a metal one?

  •  Hi All

first post so be gentle with me resurrecting such an old post butI am properly stuck

i have adjustable arms on mine and have got the old hub end bush out and trying to get the new poly bottle shaped bush in but can’t get it in, have split 2 now.

I’ve tried it by trying to wind the complete bush in but it gets to a point where the bush stops moving and just the metal centre continues to go in. Tried then with poly bit first and get the metal centre in after and it just splits the bush. I am using lots of lubricant but to no avail.

i am trying to do this with the arm on the car, how did you guys manage it? What am I missing?

thanks in advance for any wisdom
